Motorcycle chaplains and innovative pastors beware.

Pastor Injured in Dirt Bike Accident During Church Service

A pastor brought out a dirt bike during a church service to demonstrate the concept of unity. Now he’s demonstrating the concept of healing.

Jeff Harlow, the senior pastor at Crossroads Community Church, broke his wrist when he lost control of the motorcycle at the start of Sunday’s second service, driving off a 5-foot platform and into the vacant first row of seats. He underwent surgery on the wrist Monday.

“Jeff has already laughed a lot, so he’s OK. I think his pride was bruised,” said his wife, Becky.

Makes you kind of wonder about any casualties at Angelus Temple “back in the day!”

You’re right. Aimee Semple McPherson did use a motorcycle as a sermon prop. So I guess this wasn’t really innovative.

My dad, a retired AG minister, loved motorcycles when he was in his 40s and 50s. Me? Not so much.
When I was 15, he reluctantly allowed me to try riding his Sachs 175cc around the church parking lot.
    “No wheelies,” he admonished.
Of course, it was the first thing I tried. Up went the front wheel . . . and it kept right on going up, and me flat on my bottom.
The motorcycle continued on for about 20 feet until it dragged to a stop on the rear fender, busting out the tail light.
Dad got to exercise several of the fruits of the spirit . . . and I’ve stuck to four wheels since.

Sounds like a good decision, Bob.
