Noah the Musical: Review

By Ken Horn | June 10, 2008

I recently saw Noah the Musical, an impressive new production in Branson, Missouri. Here is the description from the Branson Tourism Center  Web site. It is very accurate:

Noah the Musical show of unbelievable proportions at the Sight & Sound Theater! Relive an amazing time in history when God told a man to build a huge floating vessel and fill it with every kind of animal. Experience the enduring faith of Noah and his family as they believe God and rise above the tests, trials, and flood of destruction, to receive a promise from God to go forth and fulfill his plan on earth. With a cast of 50, you will witness the 40 foot high Ark being built on a 300-foot wraparound stage. You will actually be there, in the ark, surrounded by hundreds of live and animatronics animals, when the first raindrops fall and God shuts the door. For just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will also be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man.

Watch TPE for Kirk Noonan’s interview with the Christian owner of the production.

It is an amazing production and I would recommend it to anyone. But they have some significant kinks to work out in the areas of punctuality, logistics and PR. I hope they can work them out because it is a worthwhile production that serves as genuine ministry.

The most awesome presentation I’ve ever seen. It is worth every penny of the admission price and I’ll see it again if I ever get a chance. The stage and props are just unbelievable! A true work of GOD.

HORRIBLE!! Although the scenery in this show is magnificent, the play is poor and what little music there is is awful. The story is told in a very “preachy” manner and is dark at times (sounds of people drowning). Certainly not suitable for children and not a musical.

HORRIBLE, a complete waste of time. Painful to watch. After 2 minutes our group of 14 Christian adults knew we were in for a long, long, long, long evening. The play was geard for childen perhaps. It was definitely preachy. We did not compare notes until it was over. Had we at the 2 minute mark, all of us would have left. We had heard the animals were marvelous. Believe me, your local zoo would be much better if animals is what you wish to view.
