Monday, April 14th, 2008

Correctional Chaplain Richard E. Cawthon recently sent this thrilling report of salvation and transformation to our national chaplaincy department:

An 85-year-old legally blind golfer from southern Arizona made a hole-in-one this week on a par-3 course. Robert Dunham accomplished the feat on the third hole at Tortuga in Green Valley.

Venezuela has it right: The TV program The Simpsons is not fit for kids (or anyone else for that matter).
The totalitarian regime of President Hugo Chavez made news by labeling The Simpsons unfit for children and pulled it from the 11 a.m. slot of nationally-controlled Venezuelan television. Even a stopped clock is right every now […]

In the Mail: A Letter From God?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

We get lots of mail in the TPE office. We still get traditional snail mail, though a lot of people communicate via email or fax.
Today I got a six-page typewritten letter that was signed “YHWH.” Those four letters are what biblical scholars call the tetragrammaton, which simply means a four-letter word.
But the tetragrammaton is a […]

Water

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

The AP recently reported:
A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans, an Associated Press investigation shows. To be sure, the concentrations of these pharmaceuticals are tiny, measured in quantities of parts per billion or […]
