Evidences of Revival

By Ken Horn | March 20, 2008

My friend James K. Bridges completes his 15 years as general treasurer of the Assemblies of God at the end of this month. I’m a big fan of this man of God. We held a special luncheon in his honor with our staff this Tuesday. He has been a huge encouragement and support to the ministry of this magazine and staff.

In honor of his ministry let me share his take on the “Evidences of Revival” from the Pentecostal Evangel of 7/19/98.

Evidences of Revival

• When the emphasis is upon inner realities rather than external responses.
• When the church is numerically strengthened because believers are united rather than divided.
• When the blood of Christ is proclaimed to be more powerful than the world, the flesh and the devil.
• When preaching focuses on the conversion of the lost, Spirit baptism of the believer, healing of the sick and the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• When the church is financially strengthened rather than dissipated by extravagant expenses.
• When the worship includes everybody, and exclusive groups are not allowed to control the service.
• When the community is moved by a sense of holiness and awe, not by spectacles and sensationalism.
