Weird Happenings in the Air

I’m a frequent flyer but there are some aspects of flying I may never get used to. On a personal blog, I did a series on “Adventures in Flying,” and, believe me, I’ve had some.
But there was a bizarre story reported today that could give anyone a fear of flying.
It seems an Air Canada flight en route to London from Toronto had to make an emergency landing in Ireland. Someone on board suffered a nervous breakdown, according to the Daily Mail.
This individual began shouting and had to be restrained. Crew members and a passenger in the armed forces held the man down and tied him to a seat.
Scary enough for anyone aboard a flight to erupt like this, but this was not just a passenger. It was the co-pilot!
He was admitted to a psychiatric ward.
Passengers aboard this flight had no idea their co-pilot would go wacky. I’m sure they were grateful to touch down. The passengers aboard the 9/11 flights had no idea they would give their lives in one of the nation’s most historic tragedies.
Should these incidents keep us off planes?
We never know when tragedy might strike and our final page of life will be closed. It could happen anywhere. Most accidents happen at or near home and more people die of bee stings than shark attacks.
All we can do is be wise, careful, and prepared.
What if your life were to end suddenly … today?
Are there things left undone that you should have done long ago? Would there be relationships that should have been restored, but weren’t? People you should have told about Jesus? What about your own soul?
We must not wait for these important things.
Then [Jesus] spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
“So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
Be ready in your relationship with God and people. It just makes sense to be prepared.
